EMERALD HOLLOW HOSTS COMCAST CARES DAY
Bucks County , PA—(October 2004)— Comcast
employees recently lent a helping hand to Habitat for Humanity
of Bucks Coutny in Trumbauersville to construct affordable housing.
Their volunteer efforts were part of the fourth annual Comcast
Cares Day, a national program bringing together nearly 30,000
Comcast employees in 32 states and the District of Columbia
for a company-wide day of community service. The Bucks County
Comcast crew assisted the Habitat building straff and partner
family members in hanging drywall, building decks, painting,
installing windows, cleaning up the construction site and landscaping.
Younger members of the Comcast family were lead by staff members
in a Birhouse Blitz Build, pumkin painting and games. Comcast
also provided a hot lunch and raffle prizes for the volunteers.

A REAL "GRASS ROOTS" EFFORT!
Doylestown , PA—(October 2004)—Local
high school student, Dave Comber, recently presented Habitat
Bucks' Executive Director, Trish Kriger, with a donation of
$200. Comber, a senior at Central Bucks East and an Eagle
Scout who enjoys physical work, wanted to provide a community
service this summer, but wanted to do so in a "different
way." With the help of his mother, Comber came up with
the idea to offer his neighbors a special deal on mowing their
lawns: for every lawn he mowed, Comber would donate $5 to
Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. He posted flyers throughout
his neighborhood and soon secured a number of clients. Everyone
at Habitat is impressed with his creative fundraising efforts,
which truly reflect the “grass-roots” effort in
which Habitat was founded! |
