Habitat for Humanity -- Bucks County

It's About...Relationships and achievement.

Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County and the Bucks County Association of REALTORS®, Inc. (BCAR) are thrilled to be in the second year of Neighbor to Neighbor! The program is a partnership between Habitat, the association and its members to build homes for deserving families in Bucks County. The goal of the program is to raise $100,000 with the help of local REALTOR® agents. In addition to a financial commitment, the program encourages participants to use their voices to promote the mission of Habitat Bucks to make safe, affordable housing a matter of conscience and action in Bucks County.

“Ultimately, the program asks participants to make a donation to Habitat at each of their settlements and become a true advocate for affordable housing in their community, by promoting their involvement in Neighbor to Neighbor” states Kelly Wenhold, director of member services at BCAR.

News + Notes

Wells Fargo partnership
Wells Fargo sponsored a day with the Bucks County Association of Realtors (BCAR) on June 26 as they worked to complete their home for Mary Beth and Corey Fisher. They had a busy and productive day! We appreciate the tremendous support of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and all they have done to make homeownership a reality for this family. BCAR and their alliance partner, Wells Fargo, have committed to raising $100,000 and contribute sweat equity alongside the family to bring this dream of homeownership to reality through the Neighbor to Neighbor program.

Next build day scheduled
A crew of Neighbor to Neighbor members will be on site July 12, make sure you're there! To register, contact Kelly Wenhold at kelly@bucksrealtor.com or 215.956.9176.

BCAR's biggest event of the Spring
The Annual Community Services Charity Auction, celebrating it's 25th "silver anniversary," was hosted at the Radisson Hotel in Trevose, PA on May 8. Proceeds from the event benefited: Bucks County Housing Group, American Red Cross, Lower Bucks County Chapter Homeless Shelter and Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. It was a fabulous evening, allowing our wonderful realtors a chance to mingle with Habitat family members, Marybeth and Corey Fisher. The winning ticket for the BCAR's cruise raffle was pulled at the event by Mary Beth, and winner Bill Mahler from Prudential Fox and Roach in Newtown was thrilled to have his name called! Thank you to our sponsors Wells Fargo and US Inspect and efforts of Michael Dameron of Dameron Travel that put the cruise package together.

Laying down the hammer on site
BCAR was out on site on May 15, working hard on the home for Mary Beth & Corey Fisher. They had a busy day, installing fire wall, framing the second floor walls, and laying out roofing tresses! As part of the Neighbor to Neighbor program, BCAR has committed to raising $100,000 and has contributed sweat equity alongside a family to bring their dream of homeownership to reality, but they still need your support to hit the goal by this summer. Don't miss out on this event: we're calling all realtors and alliance partners to join our Neighbor to Neighbor program today! Contact Beth Adams at 215.822.2812 x305 or b.adams@habitatbucks.org. Let's all work together to move this family into their home!

Groundbreaking for the Neighbor to Neighbor sponsored home
The pressure is on to hit our goal by the summer dedication! We're proud of our outstanding partnership with the Bucks County Association of REALTORS who have made a pledge to raise $100,000 and sponsor one home for a Habitat partner family. They are well on their way with findraising, having passed the $70,000 mark, and with sweat equity contributions, having spent days on site building. Thanks to the members' dedication, we're certain we can reach the goal in time for our summer dedication. Want to make a donation to the Neighbor to Neighbor program to help BCAR hit their goal in time? Contact Kelly Wenhold at BCAR (kelly@bucksrealtor.com or 215.956.9176) or Beth Adams at Habitat (b.adams@habitatbucks.org; 215-348-2204 x305)

A message from the president
What a pleasure it is to continue our valued relationship with Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. The Bucks County Association of Realtors feels it has been extremely rewarding and enjoyable to work on such a great project for our community. The Neighbor to Neighbor programs brings community back to the area and helps deserving families in Bucks County realize their dream of Home ownership! Without such a worthwhile program like this these families may never realize the American Dream!!

This year we will reach our goal of $100,000.00 for Habitat and build the home for our family. The Bucks County Board of Realtors should be very proud as we understand the need for affordable housing in the market. As a Realtor I am proud of what we have accomplished so far and every Realtor in Bucks County especially those who have helped or contributed should be very proud of this project. If you did contribute to the Neighbor to Neighbor program I will encourage you to wear your golden hammer pin and share the word with others to help us reach this goal this year!

As the 2008 President of the Bucks County Board of Realtors I ask that all Realtors contribute even if it is just a little amount. Every bit helps to reach our goal and it is certainly something you can be proud of. Let’s show our community that Realtors really do care about the community and it's residents! Great Job!

Thanks!
Tom Skiffington
BCAR President

Realtor Spotlight

Fran and Mark Redding
We're excited to honor renewing Neighbor to Neighbor members, Fran and Mark Redding. Mark and Fran have proudly been members over the years and now lead the effort in 2008 to show they care by renewing their membership. They understand, and show through their actions, that Realtors are the crucial leaders of Neighbor to Neighbor.

“As real estate professionals we believe that the American dream of home ownership is achievable and Habitat for Humanity helps to make that happen. By partnering with Habitat we get to be a part of the solution to affordable housing in Bucks County”

This positive team approach is not only carried throughout Mark and Fran's involvement with Neighbor to Neighbor, but also in thier business life: the Reddings service all of their customers as a team -- it's like getting two-for-one!

Married for over 37 years, together the couple has 40 years of real estate industry experience. Mark is a CPA and spent 16 years as CFO of a Manhattan-based commercial real estate development and property management firm. He also spent 4l years in New York performing financial due diligence on commercial acquisitions. Fran, after several years as a legal secretary, began working in residential sales. She's worked from the Weichert Yardley office for over 18 years, first as an assistant to a local "Top Producer" and then as a licensed agent. With their backgrounds in finance and law, they offer more than the typical agent.

Their very separate opinions are always provided, resulting in the best service and advice any client could want. You can tell they truly enjoy what they do, making the best deal for buyer or seller and especially finding the right house for that first time buyer. What a team!
